FROM FRESHMEN TO SENIOR
It’s come to end for class of 2017, for the new incoming freshmen it’s the most exciting day because they start high school, for me it’s different because just in a few months I will be graduating setting off for the real world! I never thought that in such a short amount of time I would become a senior, I remember when I was a freshmen and the upper upperclassmen said “enjoy your high school years because time fly’s by.” I’m a senior now I can finally confirm how fast time fly’s by throughout your high school years. At this point my senior year is barely starting I’m excited, and I want to know what it’s like to start applying for colleges and looking into apartments to live in.
As I start my senior year, I have thought about setting goals so I can stay on pace and prevent some stress. There are lots of goals I have to set up for myself throughout the year, one of them is to stay committed in staying in CSF. I have been enrolled in AVID for 4 years now and have toughed it out with sets of Cornell notes, but this year I want to have them all done by the due dates as well as with all my other work. Procrastination is something I have to overcome; not letting all work pile up is something I want to work on so I have stuff done on time and not having to rush at the end.
Staying on pace my senior is a big deal there is no time to make up work senior year, I have a job I work at the “Lindsay Food Center” market. Having work from school and then going to work will be hard, being organized will be a huge part working out a schedule for homework is something I should have set so I can get both jobs done. I’m sad I have to say if I can’t handle both jobs I will give up my job at the store and just simply dedicate my time to school and the clubs I’m planning to join. Learning to manage my time will help me set up time for homework and clubs, and it will make it much easier for me to accomplish my CSF goal. That’s my main goal, because I know I’ll make one person’s dream come true “My Mom”.
Our job shadow is due in 2 weeks and I haven’t started it. I feel a little pressured because I work every day after school from 4-10, but already have a person in mind I don’t want to miss school sense the school year just starting, but would also be best before it’s later in year and I get so busy in my classes. My goal is to have it done by next Tuesday or Wednesday and do the following activities and get it over with.

Half Way There
Up to this point of my senior year I can tell which classes I will struggle with to finish at semester and still remain in CSF. I am currently struggling in chemistry, I just can’t understand or seem to get it but I have set a goal to stay after school with Mr. Coles. I am a little behind in AP Spanish literature but I know that over Christmas break I will be caught up with my work again, at semester the only class I might not be able to pass is chemistry. I don’t want chemistry to be the class which stops me from passing 7 out of 7 like I have been doing, but if that’s the case I will be reconsidering on the college I go to because maybe after all I won’t attend a four year university. However I have applied to colleges I have applied to Fresno state, Sacramento state , CSUMB, Porterville college and COS. As I have started this I have been more dedicated to my senior my project I even signed up for the early completion I know it will be hard keeping up with my project all my other classes and my job, but I will be determined up until I can and I can hopefully get this out of the way towards the end of January. As I was growing up I always wanted to be a nurse so as I got into high school I still wanted to be a nurse up until my senior year that all changed this is also why I didn’t do my job shadow my junior year, because I still was a little tiny bit confused. I say I was still undecided up until my junior year because I knew it was going to require science and math along the way, and those subjects are the ones I’m weak in. Then I luckily got careers and education and that is my favorite class besides leadership, why? Because this class changed my mind completely I am going to become a 3rd grade teacher that’s what I want to be in the future. I really enjoy this class it really has taught a lot about being a teacher and Mrs. Lara is a great instructor. Now I’m very excited to almost be done with high school and start going to college so I can start working on my career, but I also have to admit I’m scared to face the real world and leave all the teachers at LHS that have always been here for me. I will surly miss all the activities I have been involved with here at school such as planning school events, setting up for rallies and helping out during lunch events in the quad.

A Step Closer
As I reach to the end of the semester the only class I’m struggling with to this point is still chemistry and I am going to drop it, I’ve already talked to my counselor and I am going to drop it. I will be attending a community college and then transferring to Fresno State which I also just found out I got accepted to. I am proudly on pace in all my other classes ending some with 4s 3.5s and 3s. I really hope I have the calculated GPA for this semester and I can graduate with the Spanish Honors cord. My plans for these holidays are to gather up with all my family on Christmas and New Year’s Eve, which means I also, celebrate my birthday that day. It’s always amazing to spend New Year’s Eve and my birthday with my family but this year it won’t be just any birthday it’s my 18th birthday! I am excited to be entering a new year and not only that but it’s the year I will be graduating! I’m so excited for that after four amazing years and memories I have to say high school has been super fun for me. I have been involved in a few activities here at school and out of school with ASB and the Spanish Honors Society. For ASB I participated and motivated people to purchase gift for elementary students who were chose in being a “Adopted Star”, I adopted two little girls it was such a wonderful feeling to know those students will get the chance to unwrap a gift this Christmas. I also participated in Santa Night this was a night where we went to the police station here in Lindsay and gave out gifts to all kids it was a very busy night. Another activity I really enjoyed in ASB was planning out homecoming, it was a very busy week, but had lots of fun planning it. Then being nominated by my AVID class 2017 was very meaningful to know they had chosen me to represent our class. I will participate in the “How Dinner” January 19, 2017, where a group of ladies will gather up for a dinner, and these ladies help enormously in our community. For Spanish Honors I will be helping out for “Kids Day.” I am anxious for this day because this is a very special day we are going to sell newspapers for a dollar to help raise money for the “Children’s Hospital”. I will definitely miss my years here at high school as well as my friends because I have become very close to some people I can honestly say high school has been nothing but the best!
THE TIME HAS COME!
Wow! What can I say time came by so fast I seriously can’t imagine that I will be presenting already on March 20 that is only 8 days from today. I feel nervous and with lots of excitement as well. That same day that I do my senior exit interview I will be getting my braces removed. I am nervous to know that a big project that counts towards my graduations is just around the corner. I have everything done pretty much I have to just wait for the day now to be in front of my panelist and see how nervous and exciting that moment will be. I am anxious to know what they will ask, and who will they be. I can say that this year has been a roller coaster because I have changed my mind so much in the last couple of months, and I have made many decisions that I didn’t see myself doing at the beginning of the year as I started my senior year. One is that I am going to stay here and attend a community college I will be attending “Porterville College” and after I get my Associates Degree, I will transfer to COS and do their Bachelor’s Degree program or transfer to Fresno State. I want to become a teacher in our Careers and Education class as our second semester we visit two elementary school sites it is Kennedy and Washington Elementary, I go to Kennedy and it is an amazing opportunity for those of us that want to become teachers because we see how the classroom is managed by learning facilitators and we go in there as tutors to help the kids. I said I wanted to teach third graders, but I am reconsidering that now that I have been going to Kennedy because I am getting to see what it is like to be a third grade teacher. When I start attending college I plan to work with afterschool programs and get a better feeling of what it is to teach and see what grade I feel more comfortable with.
